Cherry Blossoms Bloom in Washington, D.C.

Cherry Blossoms March 2009 Flickr


The cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C. are currently in bloom marking the beginning of Spring. The National Cherry Blossom Festival website says the Peak Bloom Date is predicted to be between April 1st and April 4th this year. The Peak Bloom Date is defined as the day in which 70 percent of the blossoms of the Yoshino Cherry (Prunus x yedoensis) trees that surround the Tidal Basin are open.
