The Wall Street Journalreports that Lord & Taylor joined a growing list of other retailers by freezing salaries. Lord & Taylor will freeze all salaries in 2009 but will continue to match 401(k) contributions.
Other retailers with similar salary freezes in place include Macy's, Quicksilver, Talbots Inc., Gymboree Corp.,Liz Claiborne and Saks to name a few. Lord & Taylor also cut 170 jobs in January.
