The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that Charming Shoppes plans to close 240 unprofitable stores. This number is about 12% of the total number of stores owned by Charming Shoppes. Exact store locations were not given, but Charming Shoppes will be closing the following stores:
All 30 Catherines Plus Sizes stores in outlet locations will close over a 2-year period.
Half of the 240 stores closing will be Fashion Bug stores.
Charming Shoppes also announced today that it has appointed Anthony M. Romana ad President and CEO.
