Amazon.com Unveils Kindle for iPad App

Amazon Kindle for iPad App

Amazon.com has unveiled a webpage describing its Kindle for Tablets app. The app will also work on Apple's iPad. As with the other Kindle apps, Amazon will automatically synchronize your last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights with the Kindle device and other Kindle-compatible devices. The app lets you customize the background color and font size and adjust screen brightness. Amazon.com says the page turn animation on the iPad replicates the look of turning a page in a book. If this is annoying to you, Amazon.com says you can choose Basic Reading Mode "for a simpler and unadorned reading experience."

Apple is expected not to ban this Kindle app on the iPad. Apple does allow Amazon.com to have a Kindle app for the iPhone. If Apple allows the Kindle iPad app they will likely sell less ebooks to iPad users from iTunes. However, they should sell a lot more iPads because Kindle owners might decide to buy the iPad.
