Stefano Pilati must have been feeling the spirit when he created the Yves Saint Laurent fall 2010 ready to wear collection. The influence of the fashions of the Vatican were in clear evidence, with lots of black and white, mini-capes, full capes, black hats and conservative, clerical collars. The tailoring was exquisite and the platform shoes with wings were great fun. It made us think of Sister Bertrille about to catch a stiff breeze in an episode of The Flying Nun. The hair was conservative and pulled back into a giant bun. The black and white was punctuated with pops of emerald, fuchsia and amethyst. The outfits were accessorized with gloves and giant chain necklaces, which also double as belts. Take a look:
