Today was the last day for Circuit City. Circuit City's liquidation sales are now over and the retailer's remaining stores are shutting down for good. The electronics retailers closing leaves 34,000 people without jobs.
Among those are 105 people who worked at the Paramus branch, where employees stood in the mostly empty store today wearing glum looks on their faces.
Many told ABC News they have been assiduously applying for jobs, but to no avail.
Store manager Chris Varate does not know how he is going to support his two children and pay his mortgage.
"It makes me feel hopeless. It makes me feel inadequate. I don't know how I'm going to pay my bills," Varate said.
A farewell message on Circuit City's website reads, "Circuit City would like to thank the millions of customers who have shopped with us during the past 60 years. Unfortunately, we announced on January 16, 2009, that we are closing our stores."
