Mo'Nique arrived on the Oscars Red Carpet Sunday night with her husband Sidney Hicks. She was wearing a royal blue dress and a gardenia in her hair. Mo'Nique said her outfit was a tribute to Hattie McDaniel, the first African-American to win an Oscar. Hattie McDaniel also wore a gardenia in her hair when she accepted an Oscar for her role as Mammy in Gone With the Wind. Mo'Nique won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Precious.
