Keds Goes Green With Green Label Shoes

Green Keds

Keds has launched a green label version of its shoes. The shoes are made from 100% cotton, non-toxic ink and dyes and 20% recycled rubber. The shoe laces are made from 100% recycled PET. The shoe boxes are made with recycled paper. Keds also promises to plant a tree for every pair of Keds Green Label shoes sold in 2009.

The L.A. Times All the Rage blog says the Keds green line will hit stores on March 25th. Prices start at $55. White, green and black versions of Keds Green Label shoes are already up for sale on the Keds website.

Keds is promoting the new green shoes on its website with a photograph of Baggu co-founder Emily Sugihara wearing the new Keds. Baggu is a line of resusable, machine-washable ripstop nylon shopping bags.
