Many companies struggled in 2009 but not the Lego Group. The Lego Group's net profit soared 63% in 2009 and its revenues climbed 22.4%.
"Our results in 2009 have been highly satisfactory," said CEO Jørgen Vig Knudstorp. "We can be pleased by strong global growth which is driven by the classic product lines and, in addition, our launch of LEGO board games has come off to a really good start. Based on the good results in 2009 and our sales during the first months of 2010, we also expect sizeable growth this year."
The Lego Group has some interesting board games coming out this month and in the fall. Lego also extended a licensing deal with Warner Bros. for Lego-based video games through 2016. The Lego video games and the Star Wars products have boosted Lego Group and should help it continue growing in 2010.
