Passengers aboard a Mediterranean cruise ship, the Louis Majesty, had a frightening trip when they were hit by three rogue waves. Each wave was as high as 26 feet high. CNN Senior Meteorologist Brandon Miller says these waves were not technically rogue waves but they were abnormally high - about 8 or 9 meters.
The waves which hit the ship were reported to be between 8-9 meters. This would not be considered a "rogue" wave, as rogue waves must have a height at least double the significant wave height, but it is nevertheless abnormally high.
Two people were killed and six were injured when the waves smashed windows in the ship's restaurant. Take a look:
