Several singers, including Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Nelly Furtado, were paid large sums of money to perform private concerts for Libyan leader Gaddafi's family. Nelly Furtado announced on Twitter several days ago she would be donating the $1 million she earned. Beyonce already donated her earnings from a private concert to earthquake relief efforts for Haiti over a year ago.
Peoplereports that Mariah is also going to return the money. Mariah told People in a statement, "I was naïve and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess."
