John Galliano Fired by Dior After Video of Him Praising Hitler Surfaces
French fashion house Christian Dior has suspended John Galliano and is in the process of firing him after video surfaced of the designer saying he loves Adolf Hitler and telling a women (that he apparently thought was Jewish) that she would have been gassed. The AP reports on the firing of one of Paris' top couturiers:
The Sun has the infamous "I love Hitler" video which was filmed on a cellphone in a chic Paris bar. The things Galliano says to this woman are just vile: "People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f****** gassed." It's truly horrifying. He is clearly extremely intoxicated, which lends credence to the view that he really, truly feels this way.
Natalie Portman, who is the face of Miss Dior Cherie fragrance, issued a statement saying she was "shocked and disgusted" by Galliano's outburst. "In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish,
I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way," Natalie said.
