Nightly News reports that an 8-year-old girl named Riley has a Portuguese Water Dog that sniffs out peanuts for her. Riley is so allergic to peanuts that a "slight whiff can threaten her life." Riley's mother thought of the idea when watching a show about bomb sniffing dogs. Dog trainer Bill Whitstine was kind enough to donate his time to train a dog for Riley. Normally it would have cost $15,000. Sherry Mers and Whitstine have started a foundation called Angel Service Dogs that will raise money to help train other dogs for children with severe allergies.
