Today is Fat Tuesday in New Orleans and many people were out observing the Mardi Gras float. Those who wanted the best spots today on Canal Street arrived last night. About 800,000 people were expected to celebrate in the revelry - making this the biggest Mardi Gras since Hurricane Katrina devastated parts of the city. You can see some great galleries of the Mardi Gras floats and celebrations on Nola.com here, here and here. See also Val Kilmer as this year's King of Bacchus.
