Saks will no longer be carrying Victoria Beckham's denim line. Page Six says Saks dropped the line because it was offended that Beckham sold her upscale dress line exclusively to Bergdorf Gordman.
Earlier this year, Beckham was dropped by Henri Bendel and Kitson because of poor sales of her denim line. Now our source says Saks, which first carried her jeans, felt burned by the wife of soccer stud David Beckham when she sold her upscale designer line exclusively to Bergdorf Goodman.
Though the stores may still have some pairs from last season, our source says, "Saks dropped Victoria Beckham's line" and will not reorder more. "They were offended when she sold her dress line to Bergdorf's and not to Saks, even though Saks launched her denim line in their New York store.
"Bergdorf never carried her jeans, but they got her designer line anyway," continued our tipster. But canceling Posh's denim line should not have a big impact on Saks - "Nobody wanted to buy $300 jeans from someone who is not a trained designer," our source snarked.
The denim jeans are not the only products Saks is dropping - Saks plans to reduce the amount of Fall inventory they will be purchasing by 20%. Victoria Beckham may be having trouble getting retailers to carry her jeans, but her dress line is selling like crazy and has glowing reviews.
Marie Clairereports that Posh's second collection of designer dresses garnered rave reviews from fashion critics at New York Fashion Week.
