Diane von Furstenberg's Fall 2009 ready to wear show in New York was full of bright, vivid wool clothes that would cheer one up even on the darkest winter day. The colors were bright: black, cobalt, fuschia anchored a fun and wearable collection that showed lots of layering, with Russian-inspired large hats.
The textures and fabrics ranged from rich velvets, to chunky knits to sleek wools to a gold lame (for a stunning evening gown) to cobalt blue sequins (for a fun cocktail dress). In lesser hands, the collection could have fallen apart, but under Diane's assured eye it all came together beautifully.
One thing is clear for fall: socks with pumps are very much back and having a pair of brightly patterned tights, including a pair of camouflage, will be key. Because we adore patterned tights and leggings of all kinds, we'll be perfectly happy come fall. Take a look:
