Video: Early Show Hosts do Show in Tiny Airline Seats, Are Miserable

CBS' The Early Show did a segment about how tiny airline seats are, and how uncomfortable they are even for people of normal weight. Anchor Harry Smith is 6' 2" and not overweight and he is miserable, jammed into a seat that is much too small for him. Weather anchor and features reporter Dave Price said he used to be morbidly obese -- now he is thin. You'll notice his shoulders don't fit into the space allotted to him. Blogger Golda Poretsky says she has never been asked to leave a plane or buy two tickets, but she is very uncomfortable as well. Southwest Airlines refused to be interviewed for the segment. Take a look:

Bottom line: 17" airline seats are too small and are unsafe for longer flights -- you can't move at all, being sandwiched in line sardines. That can lead to deep vein thrombosis.
