Food & Winesays the U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown and U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling each received a tin of these Credit Crunch Cookies. The cookies, which are aptly named for today's ongoing economic crisis, come with the motto, "The times may be crummy but our cookies are yummy!" Here's a description of the cookies from the website.
Like everyone else we’ve been worrying about the economic slowdown around the world. One day we noticed that the sales of our premium biscuits (cookies to you Yanks) had soared since the beginning of the Credit Crunch. So over a cup of tea, we and our business partners, Colin and Elaine Burns, came up with the idea for our special Credit Crunch Cookies. We hoped that they would provide some comic relief (and a great treat) during these grim times.
With the help of TATHA Brands, our enthusiastic supplier whose chocolate chip creations-a delicious buttery shortbread and chunky chip confection--are made in Great Britain, we created a design, wrote a motto ("The times may be crummy but our cookies are yummy!") and began selling the cookies in our shop. They've been well received by the locals, and we've also had orders from Canada, France and even the United States.
The cookies cost $8 U.S. per can. You can order them here.
