New NBC Feud: SNL and Burn Notice Go to War

Posted on February 7, 2010

Last night Saturday Night Live did a skit all about the USA Network hit Burn Notice. The game show is entitled "What is Burn Notice" and the contestants try to guess what the show is about. The producers of Burn Notice were not thrilled with the jab and fired back on Twitter saying "Ahhh...remember the days when SNL was actually funny? At least we got a free commercial -- thanks SNL! :)"

We love Burn Notice. The show's set up is explained at the beginning of every episode: Michael Weston (Jeffrey Donovan) is a spy that got burned and he's stuck in Miami trying to clear his name and get his old job back. In the meantime he helps people in need, assisted by his ex-girlfriend (Gabrielle Anwar) and old buddy, an ex-Navy SEAL played by the hilarious Bruce Campbell. Sharon Gless plays Michael's mom.

NBC and USA Network are owned by the same network, but this doesn't look like cross-promotion to us. The skit wasn't really funny -- in fact it didn't make a lot of sense. It was just kind of snarky. As for Burn Notice? It just got renewed for a fourth season, which will air later in 2010.

You can find the skit on NBC.com.
