Universal Pictures has teamed up with Hasbro to make a live-action movie based on Candy Land, a popular children's board game.
Project is the first film to emerge from the deal U made last February with Hasbro, whose properties are the basis for the summer tentpole films "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
The tyke-friendly board game isn't as obvious an inspiration for a movie project as those other Hasbro brands, but the studio has tapped talent adept at comedy and family fare.
G.I. Joe and Transformers make more sense as motion pictures than Candy Land but a good writer should be able to pen a sweet family friendly plot. You can see the evolution of Candy Land here on one of Hasbro's websites. There's also a line of Candy Land books so the film's screenwriter won't be the first to work with a Candy Land plot. According to Wikipedia's Candy Land entry some of the current Candyland characters include King Kandy, Jolly, Lolly, Princess Frostine and Gloppy the Chocolate Monster.
