Versace Features Glamorous Warriors in First Haute Couture Show Since 2004

Versace showed its first haute couture collection since 2004 at Paris Fashion Week -- Donatella Versace opened fashion week. The presentation consisted of models walking down some wide steps with no railing, then stopping, posing and standing still as opera music played in the background. The models all look fairly terrified that they were going to take a header down the shiny stairs, because they were all wearing sky high platform heels but no one slipped and it all went well. Certainly it made for some drama as we wondered if someone would take a misstep. It was absolutely silent in the room, except for the clicking of the cameras.

The collection of evening wear featured fifteen looks that Donatella says represented "glamorous warriors." The column gowns featured corsets with embroidery and beading. Some of the looks featured metal embellishments, in keeping the warrior-Amazon theme. The color palette was based on gold and white, with pops of bright orange and lemon. Take a look:
