Beyonce Performs in Atelier Versace Leather Minidress
The Grammys used to be known for having some of the worst fashions ever seen on a red carpet. The Grammys still have an edgier style, but things have changed. Several stars were wearing haute couture last night. Lady Gaga wore Armani Prive on the red carpet, for example. When she performed, Beyonce wore this custom made leather outfit designed by Atelier Versace. The black leather mini-dress was made of tiny leather triangles, ingeniously fastened together with metal studs.
Haute couture is changing -- you never would have seen a true couture house doing a costume for a pop star back in the day. It's a good move, and one that keeps the brands in the public's minds as something hot performers -- not just princesses and billionaires -- wear. The name recognition helps sell the diffusion and lesser priced lines. Couture lines that get this are here to stay.
