Elie Saab Creates Gowns for a Princess for His Spring 2012 Haute Couture Show in Paris
Elie Saab surely had Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge in mind when he created his spring 2012 haute couture collection which he said was inspired by fairytales. Saab sent a sea of lovely, tasteful gowns down the runway in luscious pastel colors of peach, pale blue, cream, mints and pale yellow. The gowns were conservative, with full skirts, long sleeves and jackets. But many of the bodices were totally sheer, giving customers the option to show a lot more skin on the red carpet, if they so desired. The gowns had lovely silver embroidery and sparkly embellishments.
After the show, he said,
"In this collection I thought about a very modern princess, I though of the fairytales which all girls dream of in order to come up with this collection which I hope you'll like. Concerning colours, I thought of very soft colours but ones that still retained the dazzle I wanted to achieve in this collection. The duchess would look lovely in these gowns. Take a look:
