SNL Skit: President Obama's State of the Union Speech
Saturday Night Live took aim at Barack Obama's State of the Union speech. Fred Armisen played Obama with Jason Sudeikis as Joe Biden and Kristen Wiig as Nancy Pelosi. Using some clever editing, the camera showed thrilled Democrats and furious Republicans responding to various parts of the speech.
First, Armisen took apart the pathetic campaigning skills of Martha Coakley, who managed to lose Ted Kennedy's senate seat to Republican Scott Brown.
"Our nominee Martha Coakley was single most incompetent candidate ever to seek public office in this nation's history....
Martha Coakley, you are a disgrace. You couldn't beat Dick Cheney for mayor of Berkeley."
Armisen announced that he was ending the ban on gays in the military, which would "create 30,000 new jobs, as well as two new series on Bravo."
As for health care, Armisen threw in the towel saying: "To be honest, I could either way on that. If you want it, pass it. Whatever, I'll sign it. It's your call. I really don't care." The writing was vastly improved on SNL this past weekend. Let's hope they keep it up. Take a look:
