No Flash on iPad is a Big Miss

iPad Fails to Read Flash

iPadThe image above - posted by Engadget, during Steve Jobs' iPad presentation - indicates the the Apple iPad fails to read Flash. This makes the iPad much less useful for surfing the web. A perfect device for surfing the web would not fail to read a technology that powers so many videos and games. Adobe group manager Adrian Ludwig blogged about how the iPad's inability to read Flash means iPad users won't be able to see many videos on the Internet including videos from Disney and Hulu. There are also many Flash games that iPad users won't be able to play.
It looks like Apple is continuing to impose restrictions on their devices that limit both content publishers and consumers. Unlike many other ebook readers using the ePub file format, consumers will not be able to access ePub content with Apple's DRM technology on devices made by other manufacturers. And without Flash support, iPad users will not be able to access the full range of web content, including over 70% of games and 75% of video on the web.

If I want to use the iPad to connect to Disney, Hulu, Miniclip, Farmville, ESPN, Kongregate, or JibJab -- not to mention the millions of other sites on the web -- I'll be out of luck.
The lack of Flash is intentional on Apple's part. They want iPad users to be forced to purchase games, movies, tv shows and other content from iTunes. The iPad also lacks a DVD player, Blu-ray player and HDMI Out. Apple clearly want users to purchase content from iTunes. This is something anyone considering purchasing the poorly named iPad should keep in mind before they buy it.
