Steve Jobs announced Apple's innovative new multi-touch device, the iPad, today at an hour long conference. The iPad resembles a large iPod Touch with its 9.7-inch (diagonal) high-resolution screen. It is designed for browsing the web, watching movies, playing games and reading books and magazines. The device includes a virtual keyboard, calendar app, photos app, built-in speakers and microphone, 1GHz Apple A4 procesor and accelerometer. The iPad does not contain a camera or webcam. Pricing for the iPad ranges from $499 to $829. The 3G iPads cost more. In addition to the cost of the iPad, an unlimited data stream for the iPad from AT&T will cost $29.99 per month.
