Oprah Winfrey revealed today that she has a half-sister named Patricia. Patricia was given up for adoption by Oprah's mother Vernita when Oprah was nine years old. Oprah never knew her mother was pregnant (she wasn't living with her mom at the time). Oprah and her new sister met at Thanksgiving a few months ago and Oprah said she was impressed Patricia never tried to sell her story to the tabloids or take advantage in any way, although Patricia found out Oprah was her sister two years ago after she went looking for her birth mother.
