The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has announced its new stamps for 2009 which cover a wide range of categories including Lassie, The Tonight Show, Abe Lincoln, Gary Cooper, Gulf Coast Lighthouses, Civil Rights Pioneers and Wedding Cakes. We've pictured a few of the coming year's many stamps below.
There are special stamps out in 2009 dedicate to the statehood of Alaska, Oregon and Hawaii.
There's a series of stamps centered around President Abraham Lincoln's life.
There will be stamps for some classic American tv shows including Dragnet, I Love Lucy, Lassie and The Twilight Zone.
There's also a series of Lunar New Year series stamps, a Gary Cooper stamp, a Bob Hope stamp and King and Queen of Hearts stamps.
And below are some of the holiday stamps that will be out in Winter 2009. They include reindeer, snowman, gingerbread man and toy soldier on the left. On the top right is Madonna and Sleeping Child, a painting by Italian artist Giovanni Battista Salvi and on the bottom right is Angel with Lute, a circa-1480 fresco by Melozzo da Forli.
