Box Office Week 52

Avatar and Sherlock Holmes led a huge $278 million weekend box office that was the biggest Christmas box office weekend ever. Avatar was the number one film again this week. It made another $75 million pushing its box office total over the $200 million mark. Sherlock Holmes was a close second with a huge $62 million take. Despite awful reviews Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel finished third and made nearly $50 million. Coming in fourth place was the Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin comedy, It's Complicated. The film made over $22 million. Sandra Bullock's football drama, The Blind Side, continues to perform strongly and made another $11.4 million during its sixth week in theaters. You can see the box office chart here.
