Avatar dominated the box office this weekend. Even a blizzard in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast couldn't keep James Cameron's out of this world adventure from making over $73 million. The film also did very well overseas - it made $223 million worldwide. The film had great reviews and it is also getting great word of mouth from people who have seen the film. This should keep it performing very well during the holiday period. Avatar is especially popular at IMAX theaters.
Disney's The Princess and the Frog came in second and made another $12 million. The Blind Side continues to perform well and made another $10 million during its 5th week in theaters. Did You Hear About The Morgans?, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant, had a lukewarm 4th place opening and made $7 million. Twilight: New Moon was fifth and added another $4.3 million to its box office which has now swelled to nearly $275 million.
