Snowstorm Kept Many Shoppers Away From Malls in Maryland and Virginia
Retailers were counting on foot traffic from Super Saturday - the last Saturday before Christmas - to boost sales but the blizzard in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast kept many shoppers away from the malls. Some malls eventually closed early because of the snowstorm. As you can see in the AP video below very few shoppers made into some of the malls. One mall in Arlington, Virginia had so few shoppers that a Santa at the mall was all by himself. Take a look:
