Video: Robert Downey, Jr. Tells Letterman he was Detained in Japan During Press Tour
Robert Downey, Jr. appeared on The David Letterman show to promote his new film, Sherlock Holmes. He was talking about the world travel to promote a film and revealed that he was detained and interrogated in Japan for prior felonies when he was in the country to promote Iron Man.
He told Dave that he was detained for very old convictions "not recent stuff like you or Tiger." A surprised Dave laughed and acknowledged the zinger. He continued the story saying "I probably should have seen there was a sign that said 'No Felons Allowed' in English and Japanese and I haven't had that expunged yet. You can actually get things expunged but I've been pretty busy. So I was detained, I was interrogated. It was a blast."
Dave asked him if he hadn't already paid his debts to which he replied,
"Clearly I haven't paid my debts to Japan." Then he got food poisoning at a famous restaurant. It's pretty funny; take a look:
