Wii, Xbox, Hannah Montana, iPod Touch, Obama and Favre Hot Items on eBay in 2008
Karen Bard, eBay's pop culture expert, has provided some data about some of the hot topics on eBay this year. The items that sell the most on eBay tend to be related to people or things people are discussing.
"If it was a hot topic this year, then it was also hot on eBay," said Karen Bard, eBay's pop culture expert. "When someone or something excites the American public, you immediately see a surge of related listings pop up on eBay."
Here's a list of eBay's top pop culture bestsellers - again we see the Wii topping another bestseller list.
Nintendo Wii - 2,056,866 related items sold
Xbox 360 - 1,297,903 related items sold
Apple's iPod Touch - 281,361 related items sold
Hannah Montana - 223,139 related items sold
Apple's iPhone 3G - 212,837 related items sold
Brett Favre - 199,832 related items sold
Barack Obama - 111,546 related items sold
High School Musical Cast - 109,813 related items sold
Guitar Hero III - 98,159 related items sold
Madonna - 96,511 related items sold
Here are a few other noteworthy items about eBay's pop culture sales in 2008.
Barack Obama was the clear winner when it came to items sold on eBay. He was followed by McCain with 33,377 related items sold, Palin with 20,712 related items sold and Biden with 5,017 related items sold.
Hannah Montana with 223,139 Hannah Montana related items sold beat both the High School Musical Cast (109,813 related items sold) and the Jonas Brothers (75,710 related items sold).
The Dark Knight with 60,484 related items sold beat Iron Man (38,760 related-items sold) and Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (3,235 related items sold)
Madonna beat Mariah Carey five to one with 96,511 related items sold to Mariah's 20,358 related items.
