Suzanne Somers Discusses Stem Cell Treatment That Restored Her Breast Tissue After Cancer

Suzanne Somers was a guest on Access Hollywood. She discusses the breakthrough stem cell treatment she had to repair her breast after a lumpectomy left her disfigured. Suzanne had breast cancer in 2000 and the lumpectomy took much more of her tissue than she expected, leaving her with one B cup and one D cup. The options for reconstruction were not great at the time, so she waited until the technology improved. Suzanne could have gone to Japan to have Dr. Kotaro Yoshimura perform stem cell breast reconstruction, but she wanted to do the surgery in the U.S. She eventually became part of an FDA approved clinical trial so the technique could eventually be available for other American women. Dr. Yoshimura trained lead surgeon Dr. Joel Aronowitz who was Suzanne's lead surgeon for the groundbreaking procedure which was done at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. Suzanne is 65. Take a look:

Suzanne has posted footage of the surgery on her website here. You must register with your email address to see the video, which she says is graphic and shows footage in the operating room.
