Nike is giving Tiger Woods its full support after the car accident at his house over Thanksgiving weekend. Nike has been a sponsor of Tiger's for many years. People reports:
"Tiger and his family have Nike's full support," the company said in a statement Monday. "We respect Tiger's request for privacy and our thoughts are with Tiger and his family at this time."
Woods, 33, has backed out of his last golf tournament of the year, the Chevron World Challenge in California, citing unspecified injuries from the accident.
Nike is reportedly paying Tiger $40 million to endorse its shoes and other products, so the company's support is a major victory for Tiger in the wake of all the bad press he's been receiving the past few days. So far, none of his other sponsors have stepped up to make a statement.
