Kimberly McDonald designed the intriguing polar bear geode necklace pictured above. The necklace is part of her Ursus Maritimus collection which she revealed last month. Ursus Maritimus is scientific name for polar bear. 10% of sales from the Ursus Maritimus collection will be donated to Conservation International.
Kimberly McDonald toldFashion Weekly Daily at the launch party that the white geodes she used for the collection resemble little ice caves.
"The white geodes looked like these little ice caves, and I've often given a percentage of sales to charities that help the environment or endangered species," she said. "So I thought this was an opportunity to support a charity I believe in and make cool jewelry. If even a few people start to educate themselves and change their ways, we can do something good."
The Fashion Week Dailystory shows actress Sophia Bush wearing one of the Ursus Maritimus necklaces. Kimberly McDonald's geode jewelry is sold at select Neiman Marcus stores and other retailers. To find a location near you click on the locations link on the bottom of her website. (via Luxist)
