The website itself has been a clever marketing tactic for the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef. When we first blogged about the island caretaker job a few days ago the island job website was primarily text-based with just a few small pictures. Now the website is full of photographs and videos showing how beautiful the Great Barrier Reef and its surrounding islands are.
There is somewhat of a reality television feel to the website now as well. The website has a section here where they are showing some of the many videos that have been submitted by job applicants. Some of the most viewed application videos already have over 30,000 views.
The closing date for applications is February 22, 2009 although the website says they could close applications sooner if over 30,000 applications are received.
