Jonas Brothers to Perform at Inauguration Festivities
The Jonas Brothers -- seen here looking quite spiffy at the Golden Globes on Sunday -- will perform
at some of the inauguration festivities for President-elect Barack Obama.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced Tuesday that the pop-rock trio will headline the Kids' Inaugural: We Are the Future concert, which honors military families, on Jan. 19 at the Verizon Center.
The Jonas Brothers – one of Sasha and Malia's favorite bands – will perform along with Miley Cyrus and her dad Billy Ray, Bow-Wow and Demi Lovato during a kid-friendly show hosted by Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden with special appearances by Rihanna, Usher and Shaquille O'Neal.
The concert will air on the Disney Channel at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19.
President-elect Barack Obama will get a chance to hear his own "musical hero" Stevie Wonder perform the next night at The Neighborhood Ball: An Inauguration Celebration, which will also feature performances by Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Faith Hill, Shakira, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys, the PIC confirmed Tuesday.
Malia and Sasha must be in heaven. They love the Jonas Brothers. During the Democratic convention, Michelle took the two girls on stage just before Barack was scheduled to address the convention via satellite on a big screen tv on the stage. Michelle said she whispered to the girls "guess who's going to appear next?" She said the girls eagerly answered, "The Jonas Brothers???!!" She said they were crushed when she said, no it's just your dad.
