Miley Cyrus just turned sixteen years old, in case you've not been paying attention. After she closed down Disneyland for a Sweet Sixteen party, Miley was ready for her birthday present from her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. Some reports said she got a Mercedes, which wasn't true. What she did get is an in-home recording studio.
"No, she didn’t want a Mercedes, she wanted a recording studio," Billy Ray told Access Hollywood on the red carpet at the American Music Awards on Sunday night. "She just wanted a place to record there at the house. She's been writing a lot of songs ... a lot of really great material. It's a great place for us to get up there and work out some tunes and sing," Billy Ray continued. "We both love doing harmonies and we could just jump in there and make all kinds of music and be real creative."
As for Miley, she couldn't be happier.
"It's gonna be dope! I'm so stoked!" Miley told Access on Sunday, which was also the Hannah Montana star's actual birthday. "I think I get it tomorrow. I think it gets like all put in."
Billy Ray may have his sights set on logging some hours behind the mic, but not if Miley has anything to say about it.
"He's not touching it, he's not touching it! It's mine," Miley said. "It's in my room. No one's touching it but me. They'll ruin it."
Miley said she didn't want a car for her birthday, because she doesn't even have a driver's license yet. We do hope she changes her mind and allows Billy Ray to use her (no doubt tax-deductible) recording studio. That seems only fair.
