Chumby has released the chumby one, a Wi-Fi connected Internet clock radio. The chumby one is a less expensive, more powerful plastic version of the original chumby, which is now called the Chumby Classic. The chumby one is available at the chumby store for the limited-time price of $99.95 through November (regular price $119.95). The chumby classic costs $199.95.
The new chumby one is based on technology similar to the original chumby device. New features for the chumby one include: ABS plastic casing rather than Italian leather, a battery option (using a standard rechargeable lithium ion battery), an FM radio tuner, and a volume knob. Like the classic, the chumby one offers more than 1,500 applications in 30 different categories.
Engadget has a hands-on review of the new chumby device here. Stephen Tomlin, CEO of chumby, says they are working with top electronics manufacturers on other chumby-powered devices.
