Lowe's Recovers After Crash, Continues Offering 90% Off Deals
Lowe's site crashed on midnight Friday when it launched the first of its promised 90% off coupon codes on its Facebook page. Getting a lot of traffic all at once is often the type of event that will crash a retailer's website. Lowe's decided to switch from offering the pre-Black Friday deals at midnight to sporadically this weekend so the traffic to the deals will be more spread out.
Fans, the response to our promotion last night was greater than we expected. Despite preparations, we were unable to support the overwhelming traffic. We're committed to satisfying our customers and our Facebook fans, and will be offering additional quantities of coupon codes to more customers. These deals will be distributed sporadically throughout the weekend to prevent the issues that occurred last night.
Lowe's ran an offer about an hour ago for 90% off a KitchenAid 5-Quart Classic White Stand Mixer. This offer has expired. The first 200 Lowe's Facebook fans who submitted their email on the Lowe's deal page were emailed the 90% off coupon code. Lowe's says it will continue offering pre-Black Friday deals on Facebook this weekend.
