When we last saw the Celebrity Solstice it was departing the Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. Now the Solstice has arrived in South Florida and will soon begin a series of Eastern Caribbean cruises. Celebrity Cruises' employees and other South Florida residents turned out this morning to welcome Celebrity Solstice as the ship begins its U.S. debut. Some of the unique features on the 122,000-ton ship include a half-acre Lawn Club with real grass and a Hot Glass Show with live glassblowing demonstrations. The ship also contains 10 varied restaurants, a state-of-the-art theater and a new category of accommodations called AquaClass.
The onboard diversions of the Solstice's website even shows a computer room for those web addicts that desperately need to log-on. Internet access is available in the rooms as well for a fee. Celebrity Solstice will be named in formal ceremonies November 14, and will enter service November 23 on a series of seven-night Eastern Caribbean sailings. The website for the Celebrity Solstice is here.
