Amy Winehouse Lioness Album Set for December Release
British singer Amy Winehouse will have a posthumous album released on December 5th by Island Records called Lioness: Hidden Treasures. The album is a mix of old and new music. Island Records said in a statement, "If the family had felt that this album wasn't up to the standard of 'Frank' and 'Back To Black' we would never have agreed to release it and we believe it will stand as a fitting tribute to Amy's musical legacy."
The Wall Street Journal's Christopher John Farley says it is not yet known how good or fresh the material on the new album is. CBS News reports that Mitch Winehouse, Amy's father, says one of the tracks, "Halftime," is "incredibly beautiful."
