Husqvarn to Unveil Solar Powered Robotic Lawn Mower
Husqvarn is going to reveal a solar-powered robotic lawn mower at the at the Green Industry and Equipment Expo 2008. CNET's Crave blogs that the robotic lawnmower could be competitive with expensive lawn services depending on the robot's final price tag.
Are people going to shell out the cash for a robotic lawnmower given the state of the economy?
Considering how expensive lawn services or gasoline for a regular mower can be, the robot might actually be the more frugal option over the long run. We'll have to wait and see once Husqvarna reveals the price. The original Automower sells for about $2,000.
The solar powered mower could save people money in the long run but it can also be harder for people to buy larger priced items in a bad economy. The robot mower also can't trim the hedges or bag the leaves or other services an expensive lawn service might provide - at least not yet.
