Robert Downey Jr. Asks Hollywood to Forgive Mel Gibson
Robert Downey Jr. asked Hollywood to forgive Mel Gibson at the American Cinematheque Awards. He credits Gibson for helping him recover from drugs and alcohol. He also says Gibson helped him find work and keep a roof over his head. Downey said, "I humbly ask, that you join me, unless you are completely without sin, in which case you picked the wrong f---ing industry, in forgiving my friend his trespasses, offering him the same clean slate you have me and allowing him to continue his great and ongoing contribution to our collective art without shame.
