Sheriff Says Charges Will Be Filed in Balloon Boy Saga
The case of the balloon boy who was never actually in a balloon is looking more like a hoax with each passing day. Gawker paid for and published an extensive interview with Richard Thomas, a 25-year-old researcher who used to work for Richard Heene. In the interview, Richard Thomas describes a UFO hoax Richard Heene wanted to pull off that would be "equally profound as Roswell." He also says Heene was fame crazy and "wanted nothing more than to get another reality TV series." Thomas says he stopped working for Richard Heene after Heene stopped paying him.
The other news that came late today is that authorities are now planning criminal charges for Falcon Heene's parents. Sheriff Jim Alderden made the annoucement. He mentions the possibility of federal charges that would potentially be more serious than misdemeanors and fines. Take a look:
