Angelina Jolie's Makeup for Changeling

Posted on October 17, 2008

In a new USA Today feature about Clint Eastwood's new film Changeling, Angelina Jolie discusses the changes she made to her normal makeup routine to make her look like a single mom in the 1930s.

Jolie says the makeup touches to maker her look like a Depression-era single mother were "very, very specific little things that are boring. I took the arch out of my eyebrow and made it more round, and didn't put mascara on to have a different-shaped eye. Things like that." The brighter red lipstick, a fashion of the time, is particularly evident given her famously luscious lips. "The strong lip, I ever wear in life," she says.

We remember another interview Angie gave years ago in which she said she was always searching for the perfect nude lipstick and how she thought a grey one would look good on her -- where you wouldn't see any color at all. Luckily, she appears to have given up on finding grey lipstick and settled for a beigey, pink color.

For Tomb Raider 2 (about the time that grey lipstick interview came out) makeup artist Janeen Schreyer used Senna Nude lip pencil with M.A.C. Folio lipstick to get Angie's pale lip. Alas, Folio has been discontinued, as has the Guerlain Divinora shade she has also used, but Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick in Beige Strass 545 and Laura Mercier's Discretion are close matches.

Here's the Changeling movie trailer showing Angelina's 1930s mom look.

The movie is available to rent on Amazon Prime.
