The Wall Street Journalreports that Walmart will start carrying the iPad in its stores on Friday. The WSJ says Walmart will have special displays for the iPad and other Apple gadgets in its stores.
Wal-Mart says it plans to showcase the iPad in an interactive display in its electronics sections alongside other Apple products, allowing the mass retailer to present itself as a seller of one of cutting edge electronics hardware heading into the holidays. Several bloggers and technology sites over the weekend began posting photos of iPads in Wal-Mart displays.
The iPad will also be available on walmart.com, but online ordering will be for in-store pickup only. Walmart.com already has a number of iPad accessories for sale.
The iPad is also being sold at Best Buy, Target and Staples.
