NPD Group Finds Less People Plan to Give Electronics as Gifts This Holiday
This chart from the NPD Group could make gadget manufacturers and retailers nervous. The chart is based on the results of an NPD Group survey to determine the types of gifts consumers plan to buy this year. The data shows the percentage of people planning to buy electronics falling from 24% last year to 16% this year. Several other categories also show drops from last year, but not as big as electronics. It could be that people plan to buy less big ticket items this year. The survey also found that 30% of people plan to spend less this holiday, while only 9% plan to spend more.
