Mary Kate and Ashely Olsen were supposed to show their spring 2011 ready to wear show for The Row at New York Fashion Week, but key samples didn't arrive in time so the designers had to scramble to find an open slot on the Paris Fashion Week calendar. They were able to show their small, but beautiful collection to buyers and media by appointment at a salon, where guests could see the clothes up close.
With the help of Microsoft search engine Bing, they created a virtual fashion show. It's short. Really short – like one and a half minutes short, but you do get to see the clothes, albeit briefly. We hope next season they expand the virtual offering to allow close ups, and back views. It certainly left us wanting to see more. The collection has fifteen, perfectly tailored looks. In keeping with the line's design aesthetic, the close are simple, elegant and perfectly constructed. The palette was ivory, white, black and one of our favorite colors, very pale pink.
The suits were sleek, featuring low rise trousers and jackets with peak lapel tuxedo styling or shawl collars, with matching shells. One pale pink ensemble featured a shell and a loosely pleated full skirt. The skirts were ankle length. The evening gowns came in black or white; with long lines. The models all wore flats. This is a collection that will sell like crazy: we love every piece. Take a look:
